August Event Updates
For those up in Launceston that are curious as to what is happening with the NE Trail Project, the LMBC have an information night at 7pm on August 12 at Gunners Arms Hotel. Flick through to the LMBC facebook page for more details and to register your interest in the event.
The addition of the LMBC Geard 4 Hour Enduro at Trevallyn Reserve on October 6, the day after the Dirt Devils Launceston Adventure Ride on Saturday 5th, has to make that an enticing weekend for southern riders who have been looking for a reason to head up north. Explore the brilliant trails one day ... race them the next.
Launceston Mountain Bike Club have also posted the dates for their first Twilight Racing Series event on October 23 and their next 6 Hour Enduro at Kate Reed on November 10.
If you've been hiding unde a rock, you might not know that entries are now open for the Cranky Penguin MTB Marathon, but if like me you hadn't actually gone to the site yet, you may not know that early bird entries close at the end of August, so if you want to save some dollars, get your entry in soon.
For those interested in other outdoor events, the Kentish Council Triple Tops Run over Mt Roland has now been set for Sunday November 10. That one's been on my bucket list for a few years ... maybe this will be the year.
That's about i for udates. You can check out the many other events that are on in coming weeks and months in the events calendar, or if you're not into racing, but are still looking for somewhere to ride this month, may I suggest Maria Island. You (and your bike) can get a ferry over there for free up until the end of August, and there's brilliant riding on offer for everyone from the absolute beginner to the more serious rider ...
