A regular training ride for many Hobart based cyclists, this route (usually done in a clockwise direction) has plenty of climbing and is a good challenge.  Probably a route for training only.

Head out from Hobart through Sandy Bay and Taroona, over Bonnet Hill to Kingston.

Given the current roadworks, it's a smart idea to head down to Kingston Beach, do the sttep pitch up ove to Blackmans Bay and Howden, before rejoining the main highway and heading down to margate.

Just before Margate, head right towards Lower Longley.  Cross the highway after 8kms then a further 500 metres, turn right up toward Fern Tree, and after the climb enjoy the spin back dowin into Hobart, diverting off via Strickland avenue if it takes your fancy.
