Mountain Biking Forums

Sadly, following the demise of pedalbite.com, if you're looking for a forum to ask questions or put out some ideas on mountain biking in Tasmania, the choices are pretty lean as most riders seem to use facebook for updates and sharing of knowledge nowadays.

With that said, Bicycle Network Australia still operates quite active forums, including one for Tasmania, but my impression of it has been that it is more focussed on road riding.

So nowadays, if you're looking for mountain bike community discussion, I'd recommend trying facebook.  Hobart MTB Rides facebook group is probably the most active if you're looking for someone to ride with down south outside of the clubs.

In March 2013, Kim and I set off on a brief two week cycling holiday in New Zealand.

We caught the airport bus straight from the airport to the ferry terminal and then jumped on the ferry across to Coromandel.  From there we cycled around the Peninsuala and down to Rotorua over the course of a week with plenty of stops along the way.

A zoomable map of our route is below or you can view the day by day routes from my garmin GPS starting here.  If you can want the story behind the map, then you can begin reading my blog entries of the trip starting here.

This map may take some time to show the route, as the route is 1.2mb in size.

If you're thinking of doing a similar trip and want any tips, please feel free to contact me.
