Great ride is to be had on the Blue Tier Descent. We rode as a group of nine riders from Welborough (organised by Damo from the Launceston MTB club) and rode up the Tasman Highway and turned off onto the gravel Lottah Road with a nice down hill run then a quite a long climb up to the start of the Blue Tier Descent! After a rest, regroup and a bite to eat we headed off down the Blue Tier track. The top section was quite wet, tight and tricky with a lot of slippery roots. The next section had all the granite slabs to ride over and was the best part of the track. Quite a good challenge finding a good line over the slabs and boulders. There was a few creek crossings but nothing more than knee deep (a bit chilly though) so don't expect to keep your feet dry. Towards the bottom some of us continued on the Blue Tier track but the rest of us headed of towards the RC track. In the end we all met up in Welborough pub for a cool drink and a pasty, the pub owners let us use a hose to clean our bikes and ourselves. Overall a great ride for a reasonably experienced bike rider but not too hard. No problems with riding it again.
