Maydena Bike Park another step closer

The Maydena Bike Park is another step closer, following Dirt Art's signing of a lease and licence agreement under the Tasmania Government's EOI process.

Below is the Media Release from 3 March 2017 released by Matthew Groom, Minister for Environment, Parks and Heritage

More jobs created under EOI process

The Hodgman Liberal Government’s EOI process has created jobs and opened up our stunning natural areas for tourism opportunities in regional and rural areas of the state.

I am very pleased that Dirt Art Pty Ltd will establish a new mountain biking adventure hub near Maydena after signing a lease and licence agreement under our EOI process.

The project will support up to 12 jobs during construction and up to 20 full-time equivalent jobs once fully realised, which is fantastic news for the region and a great endorsement of the positive impact our EOI process is having around the state.

It will add to Tasmania’s growing reputation as the eco-tourism capital of the world while boosting the local economy and helping us reach our goal of attracting 1.5 million visitors to the state by 2020.

The adventure hub will incorporate the currently disused Eagles Eyrie facility at Abbotts Peak and will incorporate world-class mountain biking, sightseeing and eco-tourism with plans for expansion down the track.

Dirt Art have a long history of developing some of Australia’s largest and most successful mountain bike developments, including the recently completed Hollybank Mountain Bike Park in North East Tasmania, and the completion of the adventure hub will offer one of Australia’s leading mountain bike experiences.

The Government remains committed to the proper protection of natural and cultural heritage within our parks and reserves. All projects that are approved through the EOI process must comply with statutory approvals.
